Microdermabrasion

Step 1 of 2

Microdermabrasion

Damage from the sun, acne scarring, and even stretch marks can all mar the skin and impact your overall appearance. Microdermabrasion at our Portland office can reduce the look of these blemishes and rejuvenate the healthy glow of your skin. This non-invasive treatment option provides excellent results with minimal discomfort and absolutely no downtime.

What Is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that exfoliates the skin to gently remove the top, damaged layer. Using fine crystals on a wand, your cosmetic specialist will treat your problem areas to improve the appearance of your skin. Microdermabrasion treatment can:

  • Reduce the look of blackheads and age spots
  • Improve areas of hyperpigmentation
  • Reduce the appearance of stretch marks
  • Eliminate or reduce enlarged pores
  • Reduce the appearance of acne scars and other small facial scars
  • Increase cell turnover
  • Removes dead skin cells

In addition to removing the top layer of skin, microdermabrasion stimulates collagen production. This helps tighten and smooth the skin. The combination of exfoliation and collagen stimulation creates a more youthful, smooth appearance.

What to Expect from Microdermabrasion Treatment

Microdermabrasion treatment for the face takes between 30 and 40 minutes and causes no pain. You may notice some swelling and redness, similar to what you would experience with a mild sunburn, for a few days after treatment. Treatment needs to be repeated, with between 5 and 16 treatments necessary for the full effect. We will help you set up a treatment plan, and treatments can be as frequent as weekly.

Microdermabrasion is part of a suite of treatment options we offer at Aesthetic Medicine. It is often used in conjunction with topical medications and injectable treatments for a comprehensive rejuvenation of your face.
