Discuss Cellulite Reduction with Exilis Today

Treating cellulite does not have to be difficult. You can get real, proven results with Exilis. Reach out to Dr. Darm and our Portland team today to plan your Exilis treatment.

Help to defeat the stigma around cellulite while encouraging acceptance and understanding its complexities. We can reduce the visibility of dimpled skin and enhance your skin texture with proven treatments!

What is Avéli?

Cellulite is a complex anatomical condition. Cellulite depressions and dimples are created when fibrous collagen bands pull down on the skin while fat cells push up. Avéli is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive treatment that improves cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. This treatment targets the fibrous septa–the network of collagen bands that are one of the root causes of cellulite.

Although there are other cellulite treatments that can sever the septa that contribute to cellulite, there is no other procedure that provides the same level of precision and verification as Avéli.

Who is a Good Candidate for Avéli?

We will provide a thorough consultation to ensure that Avéli is the most suitable cellulite treatment for you. Avéli can be ideal for a wide variety of women with discrete dimples on the buttocks and thighs. It is most effective for patients who have minimal skin laxity and localized fat. Nicotine can increase bleeding and make it challenging for the body to heal, so Avéli may be best for non-smoking patients or those who haven’t had any form of nicotine for at least six months prior to treatment. You can still have this treatment if you have skin laxity, excess fat, or other skin issues, but it will only address cellulite, so you may need to combine it with other complementary skin tightening or fat reduction treatments. Avéli is not advisable for patients who have coagulant disorders or are on anticoagulant medications, or those who are diabetic, have had surgery within the past six weeks, are pregnant, have severe anemia, have skin infections, open lesions, or tumors, have uncontrolled hypertension, or have varicose veins in the area of treatment.

What Does the Avéli Procedure Involve?

Avéli is a minimally invasive procedure that involves a handheld device guided by an expertly trained provider to target and release septa bands from the inside out. It allows the provider to verify their work and confirm the release of the bands. The Avéli device is guided directly under the skin to the targeted dimples, identifies the bands that are causing them and releases them with real time confirmation. This is a fast procedure that is usually completed in about an hour and performed with local anesthesia. Patients may experience some pressure, a tugging sensation, or brief discomfort.

Is There Any Recovery Time for Avéli?

By directly targeting the dimples, there is less damage to surrounding tissues and fewer side effects. There is minimal downtime, but common side effects include bruising, swelling, induration, tenderness, numbness, and weeping. Peak bruising is seen in the first few days. Patients can resume work and light activities within forty-eight hours, but you may need to avoid exercising for a few days to allow your skin to heal. Over the counter pain medication will help to minimize any discomfort. Scars are barely visible as there are tiny three-millimeter incisions and even smaller needle holes in inconspicuous areas.

How Long Will It Take to See Results from Avéli?

Avéli is a one-time treatment and in most cases, women will only need one session to achieve their desired results. In the majority of cases, noticeably smoother skin can be seen within two weeks to one month when bruising and swelling subside, but the final results appear after three months. Most patients notice an improvement in cellulite within around ninety days and the results are long-lasting.

Other Cosmetic Treatments to Enhance the Appearance of Your Skin and Body Shape

Our other cellulite reduction treatments such as Exilis–a non-invasive device that combines radiofrequency and ultrasound–and microneedling, which involves using tiny, sterile needles to prick the skin, encourage collagen regeneration to improve the look of cellulite. As mentioned above, Avéli can sometimes be combined with other skin tightening or body contouring procedures to maximize results. BodyTite tightens skin while reducing stubborn fat deposits. LipoLift™ is a minimally invasive alternative to liposuction that targets resistant fat pockets. EMSCULPT® is a high intensity, focused electromagnetic energy treatment for muscle building and fat burning.

Skin rejuvenation treatments such as microdermabrasion improve the tone and texture of skin, addressing dullness, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, scarring, and other irregularities.
